JUST IN: EFCC Opens New Office in Awka, Anambra State
AWKA, NIGERIA — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially established a new zonal office in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, as part of ongoing efforts to decentralize operations and intensify the crackdown on financial crimes across the South-East region.
The opening of the new facility aims to enhance the commission’s operational presence, speed up investigations, and streamline public petitions regarding corruption, fraud, and cybercrime within Anambra State and its surrounding areas.
Prior to this development, matters originating from the state were primarily handled by neighboring zonal offices in Enugu or Port Harcourt. Officials noted that the physical presence in Awka will significantly reduce response times and make anti-corruption services more accessible to local residents.
Further details regarding the facility's official commissioning ceremony and key leadership appointments for the new zone are expected to be announced shortly.
