A JOURNALIST, Emmanuel Oladesu, has been
conferred with a doctorate degree in
Educational Psychology at the University of
Lagos, Akoka.
Oladesu, the Group Political Editor of The
Nation Newspaper, was among the 96
graduates during the 2015/2016 convocation
ceremony chaired by the Chancellor, the
Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garba El-Kanemi, last
week.
His
thesis,
supervised by Dr. Olusola Aletan and Prof. Guy
Ilogu, both of the Department of Educational
Foundations, Faculty of Education, was titled
‘The Impact of Pre-retirement Training on
Anxiety and Attitude to Retirement Among
Public Primary School Teachers in Ekiti State.’
A native of Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State, Dr.
Oladesu attended the Ondo State University
where he was the best graduating student of
Guidance and Counselling Department and the
best graduating student in the Faculty of
Education in 1995. He also holds a Master’s
Degree in Personnel Psychology (MPP) from
the University of Ibadan (2000) and a Master’s
Degree in Educational Psychology (M.Ed) from
the University of Lagos (2003).
In 2016, he became an Associate of the
Chartered Institute of Personnel Management
(CIPM), a professional body he joined in
2004. Oladesu won the 2014 DAME Political
Reporter of the Year and the NNMA Political
Reporter of the Year in 2015.
Reflecting on the five-year old struggle for the
apex degree, Oladesu thanked God, his wife,
Mrs. Vivian Oladesu, his supervisors, the Head
of Department, Prof. Ngozi Osarenren,
Professor Ayoka Olusakin, Prof. Monday
Ubangha, Dr. Mopelola Alade, other lecturers,
the staff of the Post-Graduate School, and his
colleagues at the doctoral class for making it
possible.
