Uber, the global ride-hailing company, has announced plans to end its operations in Nigeria after 12 years in the country.
The company made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, saying it had decided to wind down its Nigerian operations effective September 2, 2026, following a thorough review of its business.
Uber said it launched in Lagos in 2014 and expressed gratitude to Nigerians for trusting its platform to connect them with independent transportation providers for daily commutes, trips to visit loved ones and other journeys.
The company acknowledged that its exit could disrupt customers’ routines and apologised for the inconvenience.
Uber added that its Help Centre would remain available until September 23 to assist customers with any final account-related enquiries.
